The masks bellow are for Dry, flaky skin. It also includes recipes for rosacea however please be careful when using natural exfoliants as irritation may occur. With some of these masks containing natural fruit acids, tingling may occur on application. If you do not like the sensation please remove, otherwise the tingling will increase then decrease and will stop after removing the masks.
These masks are vegan bar honey but you can replace this for agave nectar. Easy to make, and perfect while we are stuck at home during a global pandemic lock down to feel pampered. Look after your skin naturally with these quick and easy face masks.
Banana and Turmeric Mask –
- 2 tablespoons banana (ripe and mashed)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
Combine ingredients then apply to damp skin, leave to dry and rinse.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which can reduce redness from post inflammatory pigmentation and calm dry flaking skin issues such as eczema and rosacea. Combined with the vitamin A, moisturising properties of banana this mask will restore moisture and help repair dry skin.
Antioxidant Blueberry Yogurt Scrub.
- ½ cup of rolled oats
- ¼ cup of soy yogurt (or regular yogurt if non-vegan)
- handful of blueberries
For a finer texture scrub, blitz ingredients together in a food processor before applying to cleansed skin. Otherwise combine the ingredients together and apply the same with the rolled oats in their natural form. Leave on for 15-20 minutes then rinse and moisturize.
Oatmeal is a perfect natural face scrub/ mask for dry skin due to its natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is also deeply hydrating. Oatmeal combined with blueberries and soy yogurt can even reduce scaring and restore your skins natural moisture.
Cocoa Anti-Ageing Mask.
- 1 avocado
- 2 Tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp. of agave nectar (or honey if you’re not vegan!)
Combine together, leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse and follow with moisturiser.
This mask is a combination of cocoa and avocado great to boost blood flow and assist the growth of new cells. Avocado is extremely moisturising and is rich in rich in antioxidant flavonoids, which are called flavanols. Cocoa is great to keep skin looking young and studies have shown that flavanols help repair skin damaged by UV sunlight and environmental toxins.
